How I work

Working together to find the way forward

Executive coaches typically work with clients across a series of appointments or sessions, which are usually spaced out over several weeks or months.

The duration of these sessions can vary but I like to allow 90 minutes based on my methodology and the needs of the clients I’ve worked with before. It allows us to get into the detail and spend time on topics important to you.  I adhere to the ICF code of ethics in my practice.

Five online sessions is a typical duration for an initial coaching engagement at HMF and it’s these clients I see and hear the most growth and positive feedback from.

I offer a free 15 minute curiosity call for us to get to know each other, discuss potential goals and agree on how we could work together and timelines.

I’m ready to sign up and commit. What’s next?

Before we start our coaching you’ll need to allocate 1-2 hours of your time to complete the initial written open questions I have created to help hone your goals and identify your problem areas. I have found that taking the time to dedicate towards this is a vital step for coaching and increasing self-awareness.

Session one

We will establish rapport and get to know each other.

I will ask open-ended questions to understand the your background, goals, and challenges.

I will explain my coaching philosophy, methodology, and process, and establish your expectations for the coaching engagement.

Session two

We will dive deeper into your goals and challenges.

I may use assessment tools or exercises to help you gain clarity about your values, strengths, and areas for improvement.

I will draw from your written answers and delve in to some of the topics raised. I may also help you set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.

Session three

We will work on strategies and action plans to help the client achieve their goals.

I will provide guidance, feedback, and support to help you overcome obstacles, build new habits, and improve performance.

I may also help you develop a growth mindset, a positive attitude, and effective communication and leadership skills.

Session four

We will usually review progress, celebrate successes, and identify opportunities for further improvement. We'll use coaching models and theory throughout.

I may help you reflect on their achievements, identify areas for continued growth, and adjust their strategies and action plans as needed.

I may also provide guidance and support to help you maintain your momentum and stay motivated.

Session five

We will wrap up the coaching engagement with plan for the future. I will help you develop a sustainable plan for continued growth and development, and provide recommendations for additional resources or support.

We will evaluate the coaching engagement and provide feedback to each other to improve their coaching and learning experience.

Ultimately we want this session to cement learnings and for you to feel confident in your plan of how to move forward.
